We create a platform for students to unlearn misconceptions, acquire knowledge, engage in discussions related to the vision of FOA and also make valuable networks.

This is achieved through screening of documentaries and videos, hosting scholars and speakers on selected topics. We have open forum discussions based on lessons learned and general knowledge people have on related topics and issues.

Participants of Journey for Change also share their experiences to give people the chance to be more aware of on-going issues through the first-hand experience of participants. The ultimate goal of this committee is to discuss the reality of the children and youth of Africa and also to inspire individuals to realize the potential they possess to make a difference

Future of Africa in collaboration with the Global Studies Department in Wilfrid Laurier University, hosted Lamine Diallo to speak on Leadership in 2009. Lamine Diallo is an associate professor of Leadership and Contemporary Studies in Laurier Brantford. This event created awareness about issues affecting leadership in Africa. It also focussed on the possibilities for development in Africa centered on selfless leadership of the youth.

In October 2009, Future of Africa organized an
info session to give students an opportunity to learn more about the club. The story behind the founding of the club was shared with attendees. After the introduction, Future of Africa showed videos on rape in the Congo and “the danger of a single story”. This generated lots of discussions and challenged a lot of people on their misconceptions and previous knowledge about Africa.

We welcome all individuals who have ideas and are also interested in promoting discussions to eradicate misconceptions and promote learning. For more information or to get involved, please
