Future of Africa (FOA) is...


A Campus Club in Wilfrid Laurier University that is committed to increasing awareness about Africa and to generate active participation by students in the development of initiatives geared towards making a difference in the continent.


We create a platform for students to learn and engage in discussions about the fate of at-risk children and youth in Africa. In sharing stories, dreams and ideas, we empower, challenge and provide opportunities for students to discover and act on their potential to make a difference.


Our objective is to educate students to unlearn misconceptions, eradicate stereotypes and to promote meaningful dialogue to foster effective learning.

New Coordinators: FOA is glad to have Suhani Bhushan and Sandra Ata join the executive committee in the positions of Marketing Cordinator and Project Coordinator respectively.






Awareness   for Change:
  •  Throughout the school year, FOA hosts several documentary screenings, speakers and other events geared towards creating awareness on selected issues of importance in Africa. This is a platform for students to engage in discussions and share ideas about the issues addressed. Awareness for change serves as a medium where students can engage in meaningful discussions about issues, increase their knowledge and network with other students who share similar passions.

Journey for Change:

  •  Future of Africa organizes trips to selected countries in Africa where participants live and engage in discussions with locals, learn from them and leave a positive impact. Participants also meet with peers in Universities to engage in discussions on selected issues about the Future of Africa. The ultimate goal of this trip is to increase the understanding of on-going issues in these countries, unlearn misconceptions and stereotypes. Also, this trip serves to increase self-awareness, view life from different optics and above all, make a positive impact capable of making a long term difference. Journey for Change has proven to be a life changing opportunity for participants and has inspired people to ACT for change.

Performance for Change:
  •  This event is dedicated towards exploring and celebrating the unique talents of individuals. Future of Africa uses this medium to socialize, network and fundraise in a more relaxed atmosphere. Performances range from spoken word, singing, drumming, dancing etc. Funds raised from this event goes towards initiatives to make an impact during our Journey for Change trips.
